Everything is ruined, says the old man in the caf\u00e9. In the caf\u00e9 opposite the Hotel Centrale, which was once converted into a promising pizzeria. That didn’t work out either, and the pizzeria has long since closed. Only a few dirty tables and chairs stand in front of it. Everything is ruined, he says again in his few words of German. Everything is ruined here. No work. Recession in Spain, Italy, England, he looks at me… in Germany too. Recession throughout Europe. So, for these words, I took the 104 bus from Imola to Fontanelice. Memories of the past are intangible. And I don’t dare ask the man about the future. The church clock strikes once. 1:00 p.m. I used to see the bell tower from my hotel room. Back then, in 1997, there were four or five caf\u00e9s in Fontanelice. Plus a dance bar, a pizzeria owned by a sailor, and a few other shops. I stayed at the Hotel Centrale. It also had a phone booth and two rooms for watching soccer. One for Inter Milan fans, the other for AC Milan fans. Everything was ruined because of the recession. At the time, I was working for two months at the large Casetti carpentry workshop in Casalfiumanes.
\nNow I’m sitting (as I did in 1997) in the bar opposite the industrial estate. The carpentry workshop and the other businesses, as well as the lamp shop and the canteen for factory workers, are now just a part of my memory. They’ve simply disappeared. A strange journey into my past. Trucks drive back and forth. I get on the 104 bus back to Imola.

\nDas alles kaputt sei, sagt der alte Mann im Caf\u00e9. Im Caf\u00e9 gegen\u00fcber vom Hotel Centrale, das irgendwann mal in eine hoffnungsvolle Pizzeria umgewandelt wurde. Hat auch nicht funktioniert, die Pizzeria gibt es ebenfalls schon lange nicht mehr. Nur ein paar schmutzige Tische und St\u00fchle stehen davor. Alles ist kaputt, sagt er noch einmal in seinen wenigen deutschen Worten. Hier ist alles kaputt. Keine Arbeit. Rezession in Spanien, Italien, England, er schaut mich an\u2026 auch in Deutschland. Rezession in ganz Europa. F\u00fcr diese Worte nahm ich also den Bus 104 von Imola nach Fontanelice. Die Erinnerung an fr\u00fcher ist nicht greifbar. Und was mit der Zukunft ist, wage ich den Mann nicht zu fragen. Die Kirchturmuhr schl\u00e4gt einmal. 13:00 Uhr. Ich sah den Glockenturm damals von meinem Hotelzimmer aus. Damals, 1997, gab es vier oder f\u00fcnf Caf\u00e9s in Fontanelice. Dazu eine Tanzbar, eine Pizzeria, die einem Seemann geh\u00f6rte und ein paar andere Gesch\u00e4fte. Ich wohnte im Hotel Centrale. Darin befand sich auch die Telefonzelle und zwei R\u00e4ume zum Fu\u00dfball gucken. Einer f\u00fcr Inter Mailand Fans, der andere f\u00fcr AC Mailand Fans. Alles kaputt wegen der Rezession. Ich arbeitete zu der Zeit zwei Monate in der gro\u00dfen Schreinerei Casetti in Casalfiumanes.<\/p>\n

Nun sitze ich (wie schon 1997) in der Bar gegen\u00fcber vom Industriegel\u00e4nde. Die Schreinerei und die anderen Betriebe, sowie das Lampengesch\u00e4ft und die Gro\u00dfk\u00fcche f\u00fcr Werksangeh\u00f6rigen sind nur noch ein Teil meiner Erinnerung. \u00a0Einfach verschwunden. Eine seltsame Reise in meine Vergangenheit. LKWs fahren hin und her. Ich steige in den Bus 104 zur\u00fcck nach Imola.<\/p>\n
