Beyond blogging. Ralf Haun’s book defies conventional classification and
endeavors to label it will fall short. What becomes exposed in his page turner is
a complex dynamic of permanency and transience layered with composition and
decomposition. The absence of a recognizable continuity or causality or central
plot line in the sequence of textual and graphic elements leaves the reader
confronted with a series of various elements strung together to create one
perception. Although there is no apparent structure the segments nevertheless
form a narrative whole when taken together because the individual parts are
bound together by an overarching theme and an underlying progression. The
author transcends writing conventions, and moves toward abolishing them in
order to show that components can retain an independent standing while at the
same time belonging to a larger whole. It is in this way that the latter is infused
with an awareness of independence and participation, freedom and belonging,
individuality and community as well as a strong sense of the pre-conceptional
and the emergence of form. On the road with Ralf Haun offers openness instead
of closure, an aesthetic of becoming instead of being, the dynamic instead
of the static along with a more deeply embedded reference to the principles
of deconstruction and reconstruction – reconceptualizing and revitalizing the
notion of blog writing.
