The first days
above 30° C
no wind BLOG 001
it is hot
there is few talk
a few jokes
not more
the picking basket hurts
I will get used to it
no one complains
complaining is taboo
now we pick plums and apples
we are Czech, Polish, Spanish, Portuguese, English,
Italian, Danish
and me, the only German
Break
until the first break many baskets are full
we are sitting apathetically in the shadow
drinking, eating, talking a bit
in picker english
finally everybody is stretching out in the gras
I look into the sky
smoking a cigarillo
an airplane far away
another break
then my picking day ends
mosquitos and twigs have pricked and scratched my skin
tomorrow it will go on
from break to break
